Artists:

  • Take a look at Amy Brown's site.  Whether she knows it or not, she has helped to inspire me to take on this industry.

  • Brad Foster is not only an awesome artist, but he's a pretty cool guy.  He also writes art show reviews for Sunshine Artist.

Other Sites Where You Can See My Art:

Other Art Stuff:

  • I've had a portfolio at Elfwood for years now.  It's a great place to post some fantasy/sci fi art and get some feedback.  It's also a great source of inspiration when I get artist's block.

  • Art Love Magic is a group of local artists who get together to show their work and help bring awareness to the art community.  I'm looking forward to many great shows with them.

  • The Mad Swirl is a group of artists ranging from spoken word to illustration.  They meet at Absinthe Lounge on the first Wednesday of every month for open mic night.  They've also seen fit to add some of my work into their publications.

  • ArtFairCalendar.com is an awesome resource for art shows whether you're an artist or a patron.  They also send out some pretty cool tips on how to get into a show and what to do once you're there.  Check it out!

  • Orion's Child is a cool online magazine that has sci-fi and fantasy related art and stories.  I was featured in the August 2008 issue.  Check it out!

  • Sunshine Artist is a monthly magazine with tons of great information for artists wanting to do art fairs.  They print reviews, articles and listings of upcoming shows throughout the country.  The website also has a great forum for artists.

  • Another awesome resource for art fairs is the Art Fair Sourcebook.  It's a little pricy, but a must-have if you're serious about making a go at the art fair business.  They have a great forum as well.

  • I joined the Irving Art Association in September 2008.  If you're in the Irving, TX area, I highly recommend joining or at least checking out some of the free art classes that they have available throughout the year.

Shopping:

  • Dark Candles are some of the coolest, most awesomely-scented candles I've ever had the pleasure to sniff (Graveyard is my favorite).  While you're there, be sure to check out the body washes and lip balm and stuff.

Places:

  • Absinthe Lounge is where I currently work as a bartender.  I'm hoping to be doing art full-time soon, but I do love my job.  I also run karaoke night there on the last three Wednesdays of every month.  It's a blast!

  • I run Trainwreck Karaoke at Absinthe Lounge on the last Thursday of every month.  Come out and sing (or just listen)!  We always have a great time.  To subscribe to my karaoke mailing list and receive updated song lists and stuff, send an e-mail to trainwreckkaraoke@gmail.com with "Subscribe" in the subject line.

Other Cool Sites:

Friends:

  • Check out my husband's MySpace page.  He's an amazing photographer (not to mention a hugely supportive husband and father.)

  • Speaking of MySpace, here's the link to mine :)

  • I met Meagan at the Lakewood Summer Arts Faire.  She's a really cool kid and loves my work (which makes her cool by default, right?)  Her website is pretty bare right now, but I'm sure she'll add some more to it in time.
